Now, we are going to work on our fist sounds on the oboe. For this, we will only be using the reed. The reason for this is so that you do not have to worry about anything else but creating a beautiful first sound. For this, we are going to perform the crow!
- Place the reed on your bottom lip and then form the embouchure, that you just learned. Remember to think about the word "home."
- Keep the reed still on on bottom lip, take a deep breath and blow into the reed. It might feel tight from the resistance. This is normal. The sound that you produce should be a concert "C."
- Before inserting the reed into the instrument, make sure that you are able to sustain that sound for at least 5 seconds, multiple times.
